Breaking down on the A329(M)
The A329(M) is a motorway, and motorway breakdowns have their own rules. Get onto the hard shoulder as far left as you can, wheels turned left, hazards on, and leave the car by the left-hand doors. Then get behind the barrier and stand back up the verge, never in front of the vehicle — a stationary car on a hard shoulder is the most exposed place on the road. Leave animals in the car unless it is an emergency. If you cannot reach the hard shoulder, stay belted in with your hazards on and call 999.
