5 Spooky Car Noises and What They Really Mean

1 min read

Halloween's nearly here, but some of the scariest sounds in Bracknell don't come from trick-or-treaters. They come from under the bonnet. Here's what those noises usually mean.

The screech

A high-pitched squeal when you brake usually means worn brake pads. Don't leave this one.

The groan

A grinding or groaning noise when you turn the steering wheel can point to power steering or suspension trouble.

The clunk

A knock or clunk over speed bumps is often a worn suspension part, such as a drop link or bush.

The howl

A humming or howling that gets louder with speed can be a wheel bearing on its way out.

The hiss

Hissing from the engine bay after a drive could be a coolant leak.
