MOT & servicing

MOT and servicing in Camberley

We MOT and service cars for Camberley and Frimley drivers at our Bracknell workshop, about eight miles up the A322 through Bagshot. A lot of Camberley cars are diesels doing short school and station runs, which is exactly the pattern that catches people out at MOT time, so we check the emissions side properly rather than just plugging in and hoping.

  • Quoted before we start

If the car needs work you hear the cost first. Nothing gets done on the assumption you would have said yes.

  • Failures and advisories separated

We tell you what has actually failed and what is only wearing, so you can decide what to spend and when.

  • Repaired in the same workshop

Anything found can usually be put right while the car is already with us, rather than booking a second visit elsewhere.

Short runs, diesels and the smoke test

Diesels with a particulate filter need regular longer drives to burn off the soot they collect. Do nothing but short trips and the filter clogs, and a clogged or failing DPF is one of the more expensive surprises we find. It also matters at the test: any visible smoke of any colour from the exhaust of a DPF-equipped diesel is a major fault, and a filter that has been removed or tampered with is an automatic fail. If the DPF warning light has been on, tell us when you book and we will look at it before the test rather than after it fails.

We also cover Frimley, Yorktown, Heatherside, Old Dean, Bagshot and Lightwater, all within a short run of the workshop.

MOT and servicing in Camberley — common questions

Do you do MOTs for Camberley and Frimley?
Yes. We are on London Road in Bracknell, around eight miles from Camberley via the A322 through Bagshot. Drop the car in the morning and most MOTs are done the same day.
Will my diesel fail its MOT if the DPF light is on?
The light alone tells you the filter needs attention, and a blocked filter often leads to smoke or poor emissions, which can fail. Tell us when you book and we will check the filter and the cause before the test, so you are not paying for a fail and then a separate diagnosis.
Can a removed DPF pass an MOT?
No. A missing or tampered particulate filter is a fail, even if the car has been remapped to hide it. We will not test around one, and we would advise anyone buying a used diesel to check this first.
How do I check when my MOT is due?
Look it up free on the GOV.UK MOT history service with just your registration. It shows the expiry date, plus every past result, advisory and recorded mileage — useful for spotting a recurring fault or a mileage discrepancy.
Can I drive my car if the MOT has expired?
Only to a pre-booked MOT test or to a garage for repairs. Otherwise you risk a fine of up to £1,000, your insurance may not be valid, and you cannot renew the tax without a current MOT.
