Tyre fitting

Tyres fitted in Hook

We fit tyres for Hook, Hartley Wintney and Odiham from the Bracknell workshop, about sixteen miles up the M3. For high-mileage motorway cars we will give you an honest view on a good mid-range tyre against a premium one, because it is not always the dearest that lasts longest.

about sixteen miles from Hook (RG27) via the M3 to junction 5

  • Fitted price, not a headline price

What we quote includes fitting, balancing and getting rid of the old tyre, so the figure does not grow at the counter.

  • Matched to your car properly

Correct size, load index and speed rating for what you drive — not the nearest thing in stock.

  • Told honestly when you can wait

If a tyre has legal life left we will say so. We would rather you came back than bought something you did not need.

Speed ratings and tyre age

Every tyre has a speed rating letter in its size marking, and replacements should match at least what the car maker specifies. Fitting a lower rating can affect your insurance, even if you never drive that fast. Age matters too, and is easy to miss on cars that do not cover many miles: the four-digit date code on the sidewall gives the week and year it was made, so 2319 means week 23 of 2019. Rubber hardens with age, and old tyres with plenty of tread can still grip poorly in the wet.

We also cover Hartley Wintney, Odiham, North Warnborough, Rotherwick and Newnham, all within a short run of the workshop.

Tyres fitted in Hook — common questions

Do you fit tyres for Hook and Hartley Wintney?
Yes. We are about sixteen miles away in Bracknell via the M3 junction 5. Send us your size and registration and we will quote and confirm stock.
Does the speed rating on my tyres matter?
Yes. Replacements should be at least the rating your car maker specifies. A lower rating can cause problems with your insurer, even if you never drive near the limit.
How old is too old for a tyre?
There is no legal limit, but check the four-digit date code on the sidewall. On older tyres, look for cracking on the sidewall and between the tread blocks. We will tell you honestly if yours need replacing on age rather than tread.
What is the legal minimum tyre tread in the UK?
1.6mm across the central three quarters of the tread, all the way around the tyre. Below that it is up to £2,500 and three penalty points per tyre, and grip in wet weather drops off well before you reach the limit.
Do you need my registration or my tyre size?
Either works. The size is moulded into the sidewall, like 205/55 R16 91V. If the car has had different wheels fitted at some point, the sidewall is the more reliable of the two.
